About

Tricha Kumar is a producer, choreographer, and cultural activist with a mission to create positive, authentic representations of women of colour on screen. Armed with a cumulative 16 years of experience in front of and behind the camera, Tricha's versatility on set has contributed to awards shows, Bollywood movies, shorts, commercials, multinational productions, and celebrity weddings. In 2020 she founded the Creative Mentorship Program, and has mentored over 20 South Asian creatives across film, dance, and entrepreneurship careers.

Tricha’s work in art and entertainment promotes her mission to challenge harmful, pervasive stereotypes of both women and South Asians in entertainment around the world. She has worked with Disney, Dancing with the Stars, NBC Universal, Madhuri Dixit, and Yash Raj Films. Tricha began her journey at age 13 with choreographing traditional Indian dance performances, and continued dancing, directing, and choreographing productions throughout the next decade, ultimately joining the Bollywood Film Industry in 2017, and moving to Los Angeles in 2020.

As a cultural activist, Tricha pioneered the first-ever series of South Asian GIFs on social media, called TrichGIFs. She is a member of multiple industry organizations and initiatives dedicated to promoting women and people of colour in entertainment. She is an inaugural participant in MBS Studios’ Illumination Training (the first below-the-line program of its kind), and her membership to NewFilmmakers Los Angeles was sponsored by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Tricha currently attends the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC and has had placements with Shondaland and UTA. She is an alumnus of Georgetown University and Florida State University.
