About

Tricha Kumar is a filmmaker, choreographer, and cultural activist whose work challenges contemporary narratives around non-dominant communities and perspectives. Armed with a cumulative 19 years of experience in front of and behind the camera, Tricha's versatility on set has contributed to awards shows, Bollywood movies, shorts, commercials, multinational productions, and celebrity weddings. Her credits include Disney, Dancing with the Stars, NBC Universal, Madhuri Dixit, and Yash Raj Films.

Tricha began her journey at age 13 with choreographing traditional Indian dance performances, and continued dancing, directing, and choreographing productions throughout the next decade, ultimately joining the Bollywood Film Industry in 2017. In 2020, she moved to Los Angeles and earned her MFA from the USC Peter Stark Producing Program. She received the prestigious Stark Special Production Grant, and had placements with Shondaland and UTA before joining CAA’s Production Department supporting commercials and music videos. She is an inaugural participant in MBS Studios’ Illumination Training, and has received sponsorship from The Hollywood Foreign Press Association for her work as an emerging filmmaker.

As a cultural activist, Tricha pioneered the first-ever series of South Asian GIFs on social media, called TrichGIFs. She is a member of multiple industry organizations and initiatives dedicated to promoting women and people of colour in entertainment. In 2020 she founded the TKP Creative Mentorship Program, and has mentored many South Asian creatives across film, dance, and entrepreneurship careers.

Tricha now works as an independent producer and choreographer based in LA. She also supports the Choreographer’s Guild in developing copyright protections, labor standards, and economic security for choreographers in the film, TV, and media industries.
